ILSA’s Box Tops for Education fundraising program continues, with the next collection window closing on Friday, October 31. So far, we have 1,000 Box Tops to turn in – that’s $100 towards exciting programming for our scholars!!

Remember to look for Box Tops for Education on many food products you already purchase, such as cereals, crackers, and baking products. Looking for, cutting out, counting and sorting the Box Tops  into stacks of 50 each can keep the whole family engaged while teaching Math skills, and at 10-cents per label our school benefits, too.

Please send your Box Tops in when we return to school from Fall Break, next Monday, October 27. Thank you for your support!!

UNIFORM Reminder

As the weather turns chilly parents are reminded that ALL scholars must be in the appropriate school uniform. This means ILSA logo tops (yellow or purple) and ILSA logo bottoms (black pants, black shorts, or black skirt). Uniforms should be purchased from School Zone, which presently carries long-sleeved ILSA logo tops.

Scholars can wear a plain white or black long-sleeved shirt underneath their short-sleeved ILSA logo top, and girls can wear plain white or black tights with their black skirts. Jackets, hoodies, sweaters, etc., can be worn outside for recess but scholars will not be allowed to wear these clothing items inside the building. This is a schoolwide expectation which must be followed. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Indiana Life Sciences Academy Welcomes our EAGLES!

Welcome Eagles to the 2014-15 school year! We are excited to begin a new chapter in the history of our school, and we appreciate the role our scholars, families, and staff will have in our success. Here’s a breakdown of a few NEW things going on:

New Name/New Authorizer: Our school name changed to Indiana Life Sciences Academy (ILSA) on July 1, 2014 which is the day our partnership with Trine University became official. We continue to be operated by Imagine Schools.

New Uniforms: Purple or Yellow shirts, along with Black bottoms – all featuring our Eagle logo – will identify our ILSA scholars and set the tone for serious academics. School Zone, our uniform provider, can be reached at (877) 478-7889. They are located at 5425 N. Keystone.

New After Care Provider: AYS (At Your School) provides before and after care services featuring structured activities, arts and crafts, homework help, and a snack. Please call them at (317) 283-2817 for more information and to register your child.

New Push for Parent Involvement: Volunteering doesn’t always mean coming into the building, although that is great, too! This year we are renewing our efforts to have a Parents in Education group to work with us to make improvements to our school, offer feedback and advice, and help strengthen our school-to-home partnerships. Please call our Front Desk at (317) 297-9100 for more information.

New Academic Calendar: ILSA will provide 195 instructional days this year, along with a later start to our school day. Scholars can enter the building beginning at 8:30 each morning, class begins at 9:00 and the tardy bell rings at 9:05. Additionally, all scholars receive 150 minutes of supplemental, individualized instruction each week through our Eagle Success Time.

New Transportation Company: Miller Transportation is providing bus service for ILSA this school year. Please call our front desk (317) 297-9100 with any transportation questions.

New Associate Principal: Mrs. Bianca Rivers is ILSA’s new leader, with Mr. Keith Marsh assuming Regional Operations responsibilities for our campus as well as some Imagine Schools campuses in Ohio.

More information regarding all of these exciting changes will be shared as the year goes on. As always, we THANK YOU for choosing to partner with us in your child’s education. We know that working together, this will be a wonderful year!!

Arrival/Dismissal Reminders for Car Riders and Walkers

ARRIVAL – Please remember that students who are driven to school in cars or who walk to school can enter the building beginning at 8:30 each morning.

Parents driving students to school should pull as far forward as possible in our single-lane car rider line so a staff member can get students safely from their vehicle. Students should not be left unattended in the parking lot or on the sidewalk.

Students walking to school should cross the street at the corner with the stop light, and go directly to the front entrance of our building.

DISMISSAL – Dismissal of students who are driven home in cars or who walk home from school begins at 3:50.

Parents picking up students should again pull as far forward as possible so students can safely walk to their vehicle. Parents should remain with their car to ensure a safe and smooth dismissal process.

Students walking home will be escorted to the corner with the stoplight by a staff member.

Our front doors will remain locked from 3:15-4:15 daily as we transition our scholars for dismissal as bus riders, car riders and walkers. Thank You for helping us keep ILSA safe!
