Once an Eagle, always an Eagle! It’s time to secure your child’s spot for the 2014-15 school year by completing and returning re-enrollment paperwork. Imagine West will be making up our five missed snow days the week of March 24-28, 2014. These will be full school days, with transportation, and both breakfast and lunch will be served.
Severe winter weather caused Imagine West to miss six school days in January. Two of the days do not need to be made up thanks to waivers granted by the Indiana Department of Education. The other four days, plus the day missed this week, do need to be scheduled.
Imagine West’s Title I program is sponsoring two important Tutoring opportunities beginning this month.
Iread 3 Tutoring is held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:30-5:00 for invited third grade students. IRead 3 Tutoring began on Tuesday, Janaury 14 and will end on Thursday, March 13. This tutoring program focuses on Reading and will help prepare students for the Iread 3 state test, which is scheduled for the week of March 17.
Saturday Academy will be held on Saturday mornings from 9:00-11:00 for invited students in grades 3-8. Saturday Academy begins on January 25, and will run for 12 weeks. Parent Information meetings were held on the 22nd; parents who were unable to attend the meetings are encouraged to call the school with any questions. This tutoring program focuses on both Reading and Math and will help prepare students for the ISTEP state test, which is given in two sessions (March 3-7, and April 28-May 2).
Imagine West administration monitors weather information and makes decisions regarding school delays or closing based on safety considerations.
IF NEEDED, Announcements regarding school delays, early release, or closings will be communicated through local media outlets including television Channels 6, 8, 13 and Fox 59 as well as radio stations WIBC 1070 AM/WENS 97.1 FM, WFMS 95.5, WTLC-AM 1310 and FM 1067, Radio Latina 107.1 and La Que Buena 810 AM.
A 2-hour delay means that the start of the school day has been delayed by 2 hours from the regular schedule. Buses will arrive 2 hours later than usual in the mornings; car riders will be allowed in the building beginning at 9:30 a.m.
A school closing means that school will not be held that day. An early release means that students are being dismissed from school earlier than usual.
IF the weather ever dictates a delay, school closing or early release, communication of that decision will come from the school. Please make sure we have your current phone number on file in the front office, and that you check the media outlets listed above in case of extreme weather conditions.
Imagine West thanks you for sending your students to us each day, and for being true partners with us in your child’s education. The Thanksgiving holidays make us particularly mindful of the strong bond between home and school, and how appreciative we are that your share your child with us.
We will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving Holidays on November 27, 28 and 29 so that all of our families can enjoy time together. Please have a safe and restful Thanksgiving Break! School will resume on Monday, December 2.
Cheerleading tryouts were held this afternoon for students in grades 4-8 who are interested in cheering on our Eagle Basketball teams. Cheerleading squads will be announced next Tuesday afternoon, and will be composed of students in good academic and behavior standing.
Imagine West’s Food Drive continues through tomorrow. Students are collecting canned goods and other non-perishable food items to donate during the holiday season. Thank you for helping us emphasize the importance of being good citizens and caring for others!
Imagine West Eagles will be participating in a Canned Food Drive to benefit our community. Beginning Monday, November 18 everyone is asked to bring in a canned food item to contribute towards our community service project.
Thank you in advance for helping Imagine West develop good citizens as well as good scholars!
