Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) Inspection Results

On January 17, 2012 we had our three year reinspection for asbestos which is a requirement for builidngs constructed in the late 1970′s.  As part of the inspection, we are required to give notification to parents, teachers, building occupants and employee organizations of the reinspection.  The reinspection was conducted by Concentra Health Solutions who are from Fort Wayne.

Our building was found to be in good condition.  The attached letter explains the process and findings.  This letter will be given to your students today.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Thank you-

New Dismissal Procedures for Walkers and Walk-ups

Dear Parents:

First of all, let me say thank you for all your support with our school.  I really appreciate all you do for our students.  This letter is to remind you of our dismissal process and a change in how we will handle walkers and walk-ups.

  1. Students will not be released from school after 2:30 p.m.  If you have an appointment and you need to pick up your child early, you must call before 2:30 p.m.  If there is a change in transportation for the day, you must call the front desk before 2:30 p.m. to notify the school.  This allows time for us to inform the teacher of the change for that day.
  2. We will not release Car Riders to the front desk until all students have been picked up from the Car Line.  Our staff will then escort those students to the front desk to be released to their parents.
  3. With our Walkers and Walk-Ups, I am making a change in when they are dismissed.  All Walkers and Walk-Ups will be released at 3:15 p.m.  I am asking parents not to come into the building until 3:15 p.m. to pick up your child.  The doors will be locked at 2:30 p.m. and will not be opened until 3:15p.m.  This is due to a lot of congestion in the front area by our main reception desk.  This will go into effect November 28, 2011.

It is very important for the following to be followed every day.  This will ensure that we have an efficient and safe dismissal of our students.  If you have any questions regarding our process, you can call me at 297-9100 Extension 105.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Keith A. Marsh

Estimados Padres:

Cordialmente,

Keith A. Marsh

Letter From the Principal

Dear Imagine West Families,

As we move into the new school year, I want to affirm with you our goal to continue to become one of the best charter schools in the State of Indiana.  We continue to improve our school to provide the best academic environment for your student(s) and to make sure they are in the best facility that we can offer.  We accept our responsibilities to seek academic excellence by educating our youth without discrimination, and by realizing all students are individuals with a combination of needs, concerns, desires, attitudes, and abilities unique to themselves. We will continue to strive to assist students, as citizens, in making mature and responsible decisions to meet the challenges of our society, now and in the future.  It is a commitment that I brought here three years ago and it is a commitment that I will continue to pursue.

We have wonderful and talented teachers and staff who will serve your student(s) well.  It is our goal to provide the best possible experience in and out of the classroom.  But to do that, we need you as well.  Please take time to visit your child’s classroom, visit with their teacher, and volunteer as much as you want.  When your children see you involved in their school, they in turn will work harder to be a strong student.  Together our students will be very successful.

Please know that my door will always be open for you to stop by whether to say hello or if you need some guidance.  Please do not hesitate to see me.  The future is very bright for our organization.  We will continue to meet our mission here at Imagine Indiana Life Sciences Academy West.

I wish for you a rewarding and enjoyable school year.

Sincerely,

Keith A. Marsh
